There is a strong link between diet and sleep disorders. Caffeine is a strong stimulant of the central nervous system. Graveyard shift workers are legendary for their coffee consumption-as they know that this stimulant will prevent them from drifting off into the various cycles of sleep. I once took too much green tea before I went to sleep and found all of my muscles locked into a rigid position (a reaction of the stimulation of the nervous system). I couldn't reach a sleep state till at least six hours...
